About Us

UDT's original owner and founder, Mr. Jim Balsters had been involved with the Navy since his enlistment in 1944 as a Navy Submariner during World War II. After his career in the Navy, Mr. Balsters went to work for Spacecraft Engineering and Welding in Inglewood, California. As General Manager, he eventually became involved with the Naval Propulsion Laboratory in China Lake, California. In 1969, Mr. Balsters began manufacturing the first Seal Delivery Vehicle (SDV) MK-VII trainers and all of its associated hardware (e.g., components for the propulsion, ballast, electrical, guidance, and control systems).
