UDT has been deeply involved in the manufacture of various Mission Modules for the Mine Warfare (MIW) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) Systems to be employed on board the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). Each of these Warfare Systems consists of various mission systems that are contained in specifically designed Mission Modules. Each Mission Module is a unique, extensively modified ISO shipping container of a custom design that houses the components of the various mission systems. Included among the MIW prototype mission modules are those for the AN/AQS-20A Minehunting Sonar, the AN/WLD-1 Remote Minehunting System (RMS), the Airborne Laser Mine Detection System (ALMDS), the Rapid Airborne Mine Clearance System (RAMICS), the Airborne Mine Neutralization System (AMNS), the Organic Airborne and Surface Influence Sweep System (OASIS), and support modules for the MH-60S helicopter, the airborne vehicle that will use these systems. UDT fabricated three prototype ASW mission modules on short notice to satisfy an emergent requirement. UDT worked very closely with both the Prime Contractor and Government design engineers in all cases, redlining drawings as discrepancies were located and doing extensive manufacturing feasibility analysis on each component, subassembly, assembly, and mission module produced. Additional prototyping experience is the manufacture of welding, machining, and manufacturing the RMS Capture Spine Aluminum Mockup lifting assembly, the RMS capture Spine Probe lifting fixture, and various mechanical RMS Capture Spine components and assemblies.
